Chocolate Crackles

Everybody’s favourite party treat! Chocolate Crackles are fun and easy to make - perfect for birthdays, sleep-overs or to share on school camp!

Materials Required

  • 4½ cups rice bubbles
  • ¾ cup icing sugar
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 250g block vegetable shortening/copha
  • 1½ tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 24 small ice cream cones with flat bases
  • 100g dark cooking chocolate

Method

  1. Have your little one measure the rice bubbles into the mixing bowl - it really doesn’t matter if there is a bit more or less.
  2. Add the icing sugar, cocoa powder & desiccated coconut.
  3. Carefully melt the copha in a saucepan on low heat or microwave - checking often.
  4. Pour the copha into the rice bubble mixture and closely supervise your little one stirring the mixture until well combined.
  5. Share the mixture evenly between the 24 ice cream cones and refrigerate for at least a couple of hours until firm.
  6. Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt over low heat.
  7. Using a piping bag drizzle the chocolate over the cones and return to the fridge for 30 minutes.
