Fun Felt Story Board

Engagement Time

25 Minutes

Fun Felt Story Board is designed to improve your little one’s story telling abilities while also allowing them to practice their cutting of and drawing on pieces of material.

Materials Required

Fun Felt Story Board

Large board - such as MDF or cork board Stapler Felt - ½ a meter for the backing and small squares for the story pieces. Marker Pen Scissors

Method

It is easy to walk down to your local children's toy story and purchase a felt story board and pictures to stick onto it but how long will children really play with this toy? It is far better for both you and your little one if you take the time to visit a haberdashery store such as Spotlight or Lincraft; demonstrate to your little one how felt sticks to felt, choose colours you both like and then purchase a selection of materials to make your felt board. When you get home you can staple the large sheet of material to the backing board and then have your little one cut out shapes from the small pieces of material to tell a story on the board. As you have made the pieces you can make new pieces time and time again as you create new stories and experiment with other items which may adhere to the board such as stickers or pipe cleaners. You may find also that items you already have such as doll fairy wings or dress up clothes will stick to the board and can be used in your stories.
