Lovely Letters

Engagement Time

Lovely Letters is designed to improve your little one’s hand writing and understanding of communication via post.

Materials Required

Writing Paper/Card Envelope Stamp Pen or Pencil

Method

There is nothing as exciting for a child as opening the letter box and finding an envelope addressed to them. In this activity they will be able to give that joy to someone else as they will be the one posting the letter to a friend or relative - whom you can ask to send a return letter of thanks. To begin, decide whether you will send a letter or a card and decorate the piece of paper accordingly. It is then up to you what your little one puts on the paper. You may wish to let them write the letter themselves and enclose a translation for the receiver; have them copy a letter you write with them or have them trace over a letter you write onto the card or paper. Once the letter has been written pop it into the envelope and show your little one how to address the envelope correctly and adhere the stamp to the front. It can then be a fun outing to the nearest letter box to post the letter and a short wait until they receive a reply.

I’m trying to have my child know what his abc’s are by looking at them. He can say them all he’s only three years old he’s in Head Start Program and he learns fast so if you you have any ideas.
