Magic Painting

Engagement Time

20 Minutes

Magic Painting is designed to increase your little one’s artistic repertoire and allow them to create a wonderful artwork.

Materials Required

Magic Painting
  • Paper
  • Coloured Pencils or Paint
  • Wax Crayons
  • Paint Brush

Method

This activity is quite removed from the sorts of art works with which your little one will be familiar as it calls for the complete use of all the paper without leaving any white space. The first step in creating this unique art work is to have your little one completely colour the piece of paper using bright coloured pencils or paint. If using paint wait until it is completely dry before covering the entire picture with black crayon. Using the end of the paint brush your little one can then scratch through the black to show the colour underneath which creates a beautiful bright painting.

Extension: As this is such a striking picture you may wish to use a canvas rather than paper as it will definitely be an artwork worth keeping and displaying or giving as a gift to a relative.
