Ordering Toys
Engagement Time
15 Minutes
Ordering Toys is designed to improve your little one’s ability to order objects using their size, colour, shape or weight.
Materials Required
A selection of objects to order by size, weight, shape or colour.
Method
As adults ordinal language is something which is so common in everyday speech it often goes unnoticed such as asking your little one for a "little spoon", or the "big plate", her "new shoes" or his "heavy bottle". Yet this can lend itself beautifully to allowing your little one to play with objects and order them according to their size - smallest to largest, shortest to tallest, fattest to thinnest. Extension: Once your little one has had a few turns at ordering the objects you can set them out and have them guess the property you have used to order them and then let them have a turn at laying out the objects and you can be the guesser.
