The Tree of Life
Engagement Time
20 Minutes
The Tree of Life is designed to improve your little one’s understanding of where they fit in the family and how every member of the family is interconnected.
Materials Required
A large sheet of cardboard Pens/pencils Photographs Glue
Method
Before you begin this activity you may wish to gather together some photographs of key people you wish to place on the family tree. Alternately you may in fact let your little one take photos of various family members and use these for the tree. You will also need to decide how far back you wish to go with the tree and whether you wish to include any deceased family members or only those present in your little one's life. Once these decisions have been made you can begin by drawing a picture of a tree with branches of various heights for each level of age within the tree. You may also wish to draw off shoots for the tree should you have an extended family or multiple marriages/parents at various points. Extension: This activity leads very nicely into Lovely Letters and your little one may like to write a letter to a family member once they have completed their family tree.
