Touch and Feel Box
Engagement Time
30 Minutes
Touch and Feel Box is designed to improve your little one’s sense of touch to identify objects. It is also good for developing descriptive language as your little one tries to explain to you exactly what they are feeling inside the box.
Materials Required
- Empty cardboard box such as a tissue box
- White Paper
- Scissors
- Sticky Tape
- Pens
- Pencils or Crayons
- Assorted Objects
Method
To create a neater finish for your touch and feel box it would be best to begin by wrapping the cardboard box in white paper - leaving a hole open at the top. The white paper means that your little one can personalise the box with decorations and pictures. Once they have made it their own you can then place some objects inside without them seeing them and then ask them to describe the item and name it before pulling it out to see if they are correct.
Extension: Once your little one has grasped the game fully you may wish to place pairs of objects in the box and have your little one try to identify and pull out the two items that are the same.
