Review
Situated at Gold Creek Village on the Barton Highway, the Australian Reptile Centre, Canberra provides a dynamic, professionally presented educational venue of all things reptilian. Don't expect the displays to be like Taronga Zoo – they’re not - and you will be pleased with what The Australian Reptile Centre has to offer. What stood out for us was the willingness of the staff (all volunteers) to share their time and broad knowledge with interested visitors. We also liked the idea that you can stay as long as you like and enjoy the exhibits and when we asked, the staff were kind enough to give us the opportunity to handle a live python and take a photo at no additional cost.
The Australian Reptile Centre is a not for profit educational organisation and 100% of every visitors entry goes into maintaining this valuable facility designed to educate adults and children alike about our native reptiles. From what to do when you come into contact with them to helping preserve their natural habitat, the centre has plenty of knowledge to offer. If you or your kids have ever wanted to handle a python and you have a hankering to find out more about Australia's famously lethal reptiles from people who really know their stuff then put the Australian Reptile Centre in Canberra on your list.
